Speaker Guidelines

Speaker Guidelines

  • Presentations should last approximately 1.5 hours
  • Speakers should last approximately 1.5 hours
  • Presentations should be VERY interactive, with at least one group exercise and/or much back-and-forth dialogue.(This is a signature feature of CoREM, and the single most important factor for making your talk a success.)
  • Presentations cannot be structured solely as a sales pitch.  Their purpose is to deliver knowledge, experiences, etc. for evaluation and direct application by the audience.  Speakers will have the opportunity to introduce their professional affiliations, but should not ask for sales.  The audience will choose whether or not to follow up with the speaker at a later time.
    • If speakers have books or other materials for sale that support the topic of the presentation, they may have them available for sale after the presentation, but may not ask for sales during the presentation.
    • Speakers may distribute materials to the audience that relate to the program in question.  General marketing materials may be placed on a table for the audience to pick up as desired.
  • Speakers should plan a minimum of 15 minutes at the end of their presentation for questions and group discussion.   A discussion around how the topic can be used in the members’ work and life are greatly appreciated.
  • Speaker should specify desired room layout.
  • Speaker should identify equipment needs, e.g. overhead projector, flip chart, martinis, etc., which we will meet to the best of our ability.
